Vauxhall Accelerates Apprenticeship Scheme

March 11, 2013

Vauxhall in Ellesmere Port, in partnership with West Cheshire College, has announced 13 new Apprenticeship vacancies for their September 2013 intake.

Vauxhall have announced they will be extending their Apprenticeship scheme to include Commercial as well as Engineering Apprenticeships

For the first time ever, Vauxhall will also be extending its Apprenticeship scheme to include Commercial as well as Engineering Apprenticeships. Plus, all Apprentices now have the potential to secure a full-time position after completing their Apprenticeship, based on their performance.

The new commercial Apprenticeships, in Supply Chain Operations and Human Resources are a key part of Vauxhall’s strategy to secure strong talent and lead its UK business forward.

Val Thomas, Plant Personnel Manager at Vauxhall, said: “In the past we have focused on recruiting engineering Apprentices, but we recognise that the structure of an Apprenticeship can benefit the whole of the company.

“Apprenticeships have always played a key role in our business - many of our existing managers and directors started their careers via an Apprenticeship.

“We understand that an Apprenticeship is a great opportunity for young people to gain national and industry recognised qualifications as well as real experience that helps them to lay the foundations of a successful career.”

The four-year Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship includes one year studying full-time at West Cheshire College’s hi-tech Chester Campus, followed by three years working at Vauxhall four days a week and one day a week at College for theory work.

The three-year commercial Apprenticeship will involve taking a hands-on approach within the company from day one, whilst attending College on a part-time basis.

Steve Bridge, Head of Business Account Team at West Cheshire College, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for any young person in the region to secure a highly sought after Apprenticeship.

“We are looking for people who have the ambition and drive to succeed in one of the most forward-thinking industries in the UK.”

Vauxhall is now accepting applications for its September 2013 intake. For further information and details on how to apply, visit Vauxhall’s stand at West Cheshire College’s Careers Open Evening on Thursday 14th March between 3-7pm at their Ellesmere Port Campus, off Sutton Way.
