Thomas Cook Chester launches Travel Shop in conjunction with West Cheshire College

October 17, 2014

West Cheshire College has opened the doors to the UK’s first college-based Thomas Cook Travel Shop.

The Travel Shop, which will be managed as an extension to the Thomas Cook store in Chester will offer expert advice and will serve students and staff at the Ellesmere Port Campus as well as the general public.

Chris Cooper, Manager at Thomas Cook Chester, said: “Over the years we have developed a strong working relationship with the College. We’ve regularly offered work experience placements to students and booked educational trips for the College as a whole.”

“Our Apprentice, Sarah Edwards, also studied at West Cheshire College and completed a work experience placement with us, so it’s great that Sarah will be part of the team running the Travel Shop.”

The Travel Shop will provide fantastic deals on personal travel to students, staff and the public as well as provide work experience opportunities for students and help staff booking group enrichment and educational trips.

Claire de Grey Homer, Programme Leader for Travel and Tourism, said: “The opening of the Thomas Cook Travel Shop is a perfect example of how colleges and businesses can work together. Not only will the Travel Shop provide a service for everyone here at the college but our travel and tourism students will benefit from gaining real-life work experience as part of their studies.

Sarah is also a great example of the importance of work experience for young people and how it can lead to opportunities such as an Apprenticeship.”

The Travel Shop is located within the Number 65 retail shop at the College’s Ellesmere Port Campus, off Sutton Way and will be open twice a week for help and advice. On other days, a holiday enquiry box will available to post your holiday questions. For more information about the shop, email: or call the team on 07955071784.
