The Level 3 students visited both camps of Auschwitz, the old Jewish quarter of the town as well as Schindler’s factory.

Wayne Edwards, Public Services tutor at West Cheshire College, said: “The trip to Auschwitz was fascinating for our students.

“Visiting the historical sites made us all understand more about what happened there and the scale of the events really hit you. It was an emotional trip but I’m sure it is one that will stay in the memory of our students.

“The Auschwitz visit will not only enrich our students but will help bring what they learn at College to life.”

Caitlin Kenzie, 18, from Elton, Cheshire who is studying BTEC Extended Diploma in Public Services, said: “Visiting where the horrors of the Holocaust took place was eye opening and extremely moving.

“Before our trip we have been talking about Auschwitz in College so it was an interesting  experience to see first-hand what we had been discussing.”
