Student cruises into employment

August 29, 2014

A student from West Cheshire College has secured a job as hair stylist for leading cruise line company, Steiner Cruise Lines.

Annalee Jackson will be travelling across Europe and the Caribbean after successfully completing a six hour interview, which included a practical assessment and a public speaking challenge.

Annalee Jackson, 19, from Chester, who completed an Apprenticeship in Hairdressing at the College’s Salon, said: “I’m really excited but nervous about starting my new job. My tutor used to work on a cruise line and encouraged me to apply.

“During my Apprenticeship, I worked as a Stylist in the College Salon. It really helped to improve my confidence and gave me the experience of working with my own clients.”

Karen Bennison, Salon Manager Hairdressing at West Cheshire College, said: “I am so thrilled that Annalee was successful.

“Our courses are designed for students to go straight into employment and this shows that the courses achieve this.

“It’s an amazing opportunity for Annalee and I have no doubt that she will be absolutely fantastic.”

The College’s Eden Salon is open Monday 12pm- 9pm, Tuesday and Friday 9am- 5pm, Wednesday 9am- 9pm and Thursday 9am- 8pm.

You can enrol now for a wide range of courses at West Cheshire College from BTEC qualifications and A Levels to Apprenticeships and Foundation Degrees. For more information call the College hotline on 01244 656555 or visit
