School children discover their potential with Vauxhall

April 2, 2015

Last week over 40 school children attended an event organised by Vauxhall Motors to discover more about the exciting Apprenticeship opportunities available at the car manufacturer.

The event, at West Cheshire College’s Ellesmere Port Campus, was organised as part of the College’s National Apprenticeship Week celebrations and coincides with the launch of Vauxhall’s annual Apprenticeship recruitment campaign for its September 2015 intake.

Undergraduates working at Vauxhall organised and ran several workshops for the school children which gave them an insight into learning, training and working at Vauxhall. The team also gave pupils tips and advice on how to apply for an Apprenticeship.

Rachel Borland, Organisational Development Advisor at Vauxhall, said: “Vauxhall is proud to support National Apprenticeship Week, and specifically this event, in order to promote the many opportunities that Apprenticeships can offer.

“2015 is an exciting year in particular, as we launch our mechatronics technician Apprenticeship in September. This will ensure that our next intake of Apprentices have world class training to support the future technical needs of our business.”

Maria Davison, Director of Business Development at West Cheshire College, said: “Vauxhall delivers outstanding Apprenticeship training and is an excellent opportunity for young people.

“Here at the College, we are marking National Apprenticeship Week by celebrating the achievements of our Apprentices as well as communicating and sharing the benefits with young people in the region.”

Applications for Vauxhall’s new Mechatronics Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship close on Tuesday 31st March.
