Rebuild your career with a College course

April 23, 2015

With the construction industry enjoying its best quarter since February 2006 and the number of construction jobs rocketing, West Cheshire College is launching a series of part-time courses for people looking to gain new or refresh existing skills.

A recent study has revealed that over 80,000 labourers are now back in work due to the boom in the industry – including over 8,000 builders, 8,000 plumbers and 7,000 plasterers.

The new short courses in construction, which are being delivered throughout the spring and summer, include 17th Edition Initial and Fundamental Inspection and Testing of Electrical Installations; plus Introductory and Intermediate courses in Welding.

The courses are part of the College’s new part-time and leisure courses which are starting now.

Other courses to help people start a new career include Getting Back into Employment – Workskills; Preparation for Working in the Manufacturing Engineering Industry; Employability Skills in Hospitality and Employability Skills in the Travel and Tourism Industry.

The College will also be delivering free English and maths courses for adults at the Bluecoat on Northgate Street in Chester.

Nigel Davies, Principal and Chief Executive of West Cheshire College, said: “Our part-time courses are a great opportunity for people who are looking to get back into the workplace, refresh old skills or learn a new trade.

“The UK is certainly moving towards economic recovery and job prospects are looking positive. For those people that have been out of work, our specific courses will help them to prepare and ensure they have the right skills, training and qualifications to succeed.”
