Nail students named ‘best of the best’ in the UK

Nail students from West Cheshire College are celebrating after picking up multiple award wins including a Gold medal at the recent WorldSkills UK National Competitions at NEC Birmingham.


Fatemeh Parhiz, 36, from Chester, came first in the Intermediate Nail Enhancement WorldSkills UK Competition after competing against nine other regional champions from across the UK.

Lauren Carr, 19, from Ellesmere Port, also took part in the competition, which sees over 500 people battle it out to win Gold, Silver and Bronze in their chosen vocational skill as part of The Skills Show.

Last month, Fatemeh also won the Nail Starters Tip & Overlay category in the Professional Beauty North Nail Championships in Manchester. In the same competition, Demi Roberts, 21 from Ellesmere Port, won the Nail Starters Manicure category and Louise Lewis, 21 from Ellesmere Port, came second and Jodie White, 24 from Ellesmere Port, third.

West Cheshire College also won the College Cup, which was awarded to the highest placing College across all categories and was introduced for the first time this year by Professional Beauty North.

Fatemeh Parhiz, said: “My tutor asked me if I was interested in being involved in the competitions and I was over the moon to be asked.

“To win both the Professional Beauty North Nail Championships and now to win the WorldSkills UK national competition is amazing and I am so proud to have been part of it.”

Andrea Rimmer, West Cheshire College Senior Lecturer and CND Education Ambassador, said: “The students were absolutely fantastic at both events and did really well to score so highly – it’s wonderful to see our students winning both at a regional and national level.”
