Logistics Apprentice Leads the Way

January 17, 2013

West Cheshire College Apprentice, Natasha Williams, has become the second female in England and Wales to successfully complete an Advanced Apprenticeship in Logistics.

Natasha, 21, from Bromborough completed her training through the College whilst working at Wirral based company TWA Logistics.

Natasha said: “Working in logistics is a very male orientated role, but I didn’t realise that I was only the second female to finish the Apprenticeship. I’m so proud of my achievement.

“I decided to do a Logistics Apprenticeship after starting in an administration role at TWA when I was made redundant from a previous job. I really wanted to achieve more from the job so I kept pushing to do some training.

“The Apprenticeship was tough but I had a lot of support from my employer and my tutor from the College who was always on hand to help me.”

Since completing the Apprenticeship, Natasha has been given a full-time job with TWA Logistics as a Stock Controller.

Natasha added: “I really enjoy working in logistics.  I wouldn’t have got my job without doing the Apprenticeship and I would recommend an Apprenticeship to anyone as it is a great way to get your foot in the door.

“My day-to-day role includes receiving stock, checking stock level, informing the customers of any issues, checking the stock before it leaves and completing the paperwork on the whole process, so it is very varied.”

Sian Williams, Business Account Adviser, from West Cheshire College, said: “It is an incredible achievement that Natasha is the second female in the country to complete this Apprenticeship.

“It is great to see a woman high achieving in a male dominated industry.”
