Explore your future with College

April 2, 2015

West Cheshire College is inviting people aged 16-18 to join them to ‘Explore your future’ so they can find out which route is suited for their next steps.

The short course is aimed at young people who are not already in education, training or employment who want to gain a recognised qualification as well as take part in activities to build your confidence, experience and skills.

The Explore your Future programme will cover team working skills, look into potential career routes, help set future goals and what you need to achieve them and how to improve their effectiveness in College and for future employment.

After completing the three week course, learners will receive help from our dedicated team of advisors to progress onto a course, Apprenticeship or Science Pre-Apprenticeship programme.

Learners will have the opportunity to enhance their CV through work placements or by doing key skills in English and maths.

Adam Hamad, 18 from Ellesmere Port signed up to the Explore your Future course after finishing sixth form as he was unsure what to do for his next steps.

Adam said: “The course included team building exercises as well as insights into what it is like to study music technology, sport and health and social care.

“It was really informative and I would definitely recommend it to other people in the same situation as myself. I found out that I really enjoy music so I will be looking into studying this at the College.

“During the course, somebody told me more information about the Prince’s Trust which I have since signed up to and I’m looking forward to getting involved in community projects with them.”

Lara Whistance Head of School for Preparation for Life and Work at West Cheshire College, said: “The short course is ideal for people who are looking for their next steps but they are not sure which route to take.

“It will give them the right qualifications to go onto employment through an Apprenticeship or to enrol onto a course at the College.

If you are aged between 16 and 18 and would like advice and guidance on your next steps then the next Explore Your Future course will start at West Cheshire College on Tuesday 24th February. For more information, call the College hotline on 01244 656555 or visit
