Dedicated student wins two volunteering awards

April 2, 2015

West Cheshire College student Lois Muir has been presented with two awards for her outstanding commitment and dedication to volunteering.

Business student Lois, 19, from Ellesmere Port is a volunteer officer at West Cheshire College; Team Leader for youth volunteer organisation, vInspired, and also offers her services to Youth Federation and Oasis UK.

Lois was awarded ‘Volunteer of the Month’ by vInspired and was also named as ‘Volunteer of the Term’ by the College.

Lois said: “I started volunteering a year ago and really enjoyed it so I got involved in more and more projects.

“One of the campaigns I have been working on recently is promoting food banks and getting more people to donate to them. This has been a very successful and rewarding campaign.

“I’ve really enjoyed working with young people through volunteering and it is something that I would like to have a career in when I finish my studies.”

Caroline Noakes, Careers Adviser at West Cheshire College, said: “We encourage all of our students to get involved in volunteering as part of their experience here at College.

“Lois has shown exceptional dedication to her volunteering and even though she is involved in four different projects, she has given each of them her all. She thoroughly deserves both awards.”
