College launches accredited ‘gold standard’ cleaning course

June 20, 2013

West Cheshire College has successfully won a tender to work with BBS, the training arm of The British Institute of Cleaning Science, to deliver ‘gold standard’ accredited cleaning training for organisations.

West Cheshire College has successfully won a tender to launch a gold standard cleaning course.

The College is the only BBS Associate in the North West and North Wales and will deliver The Cleaning Professional’s Skills Suite (CPSS) course, which provides essential accredited training for the industry.

CPSS is the most widely used cleaning qualification in the UK and is recognised globally. The qualification is flexible and can be catered around each individual business as it can deliver specialist skills for specific industries.

Completion of the mandatory units results in candidates achieving their BICSc Licence to Practice which ensures that a cleaning operator is competent in the necessary entry level skills to perform their role. On completing these three units the candidate also has three years membership of the Institute at Practitioner Grade PBICS.

West Cheshire College is also offering a flexible approach to obtain the qualification, as people can complete the licence to Practice Programme in one day or a three day programme which trains in additional skills either at College or in their workplace. Training can be delivered bespoke to the needs of the individual company.

CPSS training is ideal for anybody working in the cleaning industry including cleaning operatives, housekeepers, industrial cleaning operatives, supervisors, managers, team leaders and Apprentices and is aimed towards organisations including hotels, NHS FM providers, care homes and many others.

Joanne Davies from West Cheshire College, said: “Employers looking to train their cleaning operators should certainly consider this course - it is a globally recognised qualification and the most beneficial one in the industry.

“The course is flexible and learners can study specialist skills, which can be tailored around their particular industry sector. Significantly for many sectors, the training is critical for assisting with control of infection.

“As West Cheshire College is the only BBS Associate in the North West and North Wales, we expect the training to be extremely popular.”

The British Institute of Cleaning Science is the largest independent, professional and educational body within the cleaning industry with over 5,000 individual and corporate members in the UK and Internationally.

The Institute aims to create a community to raise the standards of education and to build awareness of the cleaning industry by being the natural choice for professional standards and accredited training.
