Apprenticeships ‘Good for Business’

March 11, 2013

Local employers who recruit between one and 10 Apprentices can now receive a £1,500 grant for every Apprentice they employ through the Apprenticeship Grants for Employers (AGE).

Employers are invited to West Cheshire College’s Apprenticeships ‘Good for business’ Conference

To find out more, employers are invited to attend an Apprenticeships ‘Good for business’ Conference on Tuesday 12 March, 3.00-5.00pm.

The free event, hosted by West Cheshire College’s Business Solutions team at the College’s Chester Campus, Eaton Road, will provide employers with important information on funding, incentives for taking on an Apprentice, plus the opportunity to hear from other employers about the real business benefits of Apprenticeships.

Martyn Cray, Plant Manager at Vauxhall, who will be speaking at the event, said: “Vauxhall’s Apprenticeship programme is a great source of hiring bright young people who can meet the future challenges the automotive industry faces.

“This event, hosted by West Cheshire College, is an ideal opportunity for employers of all sizes to hear more about how Apprenticeships can support their own businesses and we would encourage business owners and senior managers to attend.”

Steve Bridge, Head of the Business Account Team, at West Cheshire College, said: “Apprenticeships are very beneficial to both businesses and individuals alike. Apprentices bring a lot of fresh and creative ideas to a business and they are an ideal way to train a business’s future workforce.

“There are many funding incentives available for companies and attendees will have the chance to find out what funding they are entitled to and receive advice on how to access this funding.”

Paul Skelly, IT & Office Services Team Leader at the Grosvenor Estate, who have recently appointed their fifth consecutive Apprentice, said: “We are strong advocates of Apprenticeships and have seen many benefits both to the company and the Apprentices themselves.

“It has been refreshing to be able to bring young people into the business, give them the training and support they need to develop their skills and to see them become important members of the team.”

The Apprenticeships ‘Good for business’ Conference, organised as part of National Apprenticeship Week (11-15 March), is on Tuesday 12th March between 3-5pm at the College’s Chester Campus, Eaton Road, Chester. To book your free place at the event call Sarah Wilson on 01244 656417 or email
