Apprenticeships boost company growth

April 2, 2015

Working in conjunction with West Cheshire College, Chester based company, ECM Education Consultants Ltd, has introduced a new Apprenticeship programme to support the company’s on-going growth and development.

The company, which delivers training and support for Head Teachers, Deputy Head Teachers, teachers, teaching assistants, and governors, realised the benefits of an Apprenticeship scheme after appointing two junior members of staff as Apprentices as well as enrolling a long-term employee onto an Apprenticeship scheme.

The business had planned to take on just one Business Administration Apprentice, but due to the growth of the business and the outstanding talent pool of candidates provided by West Cheshire College, they appointed two.

Apprentices Jayne Roberts, 18, from Penymynydd, North Wales and Ryan Ingram, 18, from Chester, joined as Business Administrators for the company. In addition to Ryan and Jayne’s appointment,

Administrator Linda Tong, who has worked at the company since it established four years ago, has also signed up to an Apprenticeship. Her bespoke Apprenticeship allows her to study for the AAT accountancy course alongside her full-time job.

Linda said: “Our business has rapidly grown over the past few years and we needed to extend our team and we thought that having Apprentices was an ideal way to train our future workforce.

“Jayne and Ryan started with us in October last year and they are both doing really well and have been progressing very well in their roles within ECM Education Consultants Ltd.

“Since I have been at the company I have progressed into more of a financial role so I felt like I needed to do some training to help me with this transition and develop my CPD. I enrolled onto an Apprenticeship scheme too so I can gain an AAT qualification whilst continuing with my daily role.  I hope to further develop my training within the accountancy sector.

Phil Choi, Director at ECM Education Consultants Ltd, said: "As an educational consultancy we strive to provide the best services possible to our schools. We take pride in our excellent recruitment history and are pleased to have been able to appoint two young people who fit in with our values and ethos.

“We have found the partnership with West Cheshire College to be very supportive and would recommend the process to other companies."

Julia Chiapparrone, Business Development Executive at West Cheshire College, said: “We are delighted to have partnered with ECM Education Consultants Ltd.

“Our partnership with them shows just how flexible our Apprenticeship scheme is. Not only can it be used to train new members of staff but can also be used to ‘up skill’ current employees.”
